First announced in November this year by Philippine SEA Games Organizing Committee (PHISGOC) and Razer Incorporation, Moonton's popular MOBA game Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is the first eSports game shortlisted for the upcoming 2019 SEA Games that will be held in the Philippines. And this month, 4 more titles has been added to the shortlist, two of this games are also MOBA. Valve's Dota 2 and Tencent's 王者荣耀(Honour of Kings) or globally known as Arena of Valor (also known in other regions as Realm of Valor/RoV, Penta Storm, Mobile Arena/Liên Quân Mobile and Legendary Showdown/傳說對決) has been added to the list.
The eSport event has been divided into three categories with two games for each platform. Other titles including Bandai Namco's fighting game Tekken 7 and Blizzard's strategy game StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty joins the shortlist. Sixth eSport game will be announced soon.
Both Mobile Legends: Bang Bang and Arena of Valor will be the games for the mobile platform while Dota 2 and StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty will be the games for the PC platform. Tekken 7 and unannounced game is obviously for the console platform.
First introduce as a Demo Sport in 2018 Asian Games, eSports is now a medal sport.
